    Tascha's Daycare

A daycare should be like a second home, where children feel secure, loved, and encouraged to learn and grow.

  • Sickness Policy

This sickness policy is for the protection of your child, all other daycare children present and the daycare provider. It is my hope to keep the daycare as germ-free and sick-free as possible. Once ONE child comes to the daycare sick, he or she is exposing everyone to that illness, and it can be a horrible sick cycle - so let's keep it healthy!

Call or text me by 8am if your child is not coming that day.

When a child must stay home / must be picked up from daycare

    • Your child cannot attend daycare with a fever of 100 degrees or higher.
    • If anyone in your home is sick, even if it isn't the child, please keep them home. Your child can be contagious even if they aren’t showing symptoms.
    • If your child is too sick to be at daycare or has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, I will be calling you to pick up your child ASAP (child must be picked up within an hour of notification)
    • See below for examples of contagious illnesses that require your child to stay home
      • Fever of 100 degrees or higher
      • Cold with yellow or green nasal discharge
      • Constant clear runny nose
      • Productive cough
      • Persistent phlegmy cough
      • Croup
      • Strep Throat
      • Gastroenteritis (Stomach Flu)
      • Flu
      • Persistent diarrhea (even if a reaction to antibiotics)
      • Vomiting
      • Ringworm
      • Chicken Pox
      • Hand Foot Mouth Disease (Herpangina)
      • Coxsackie Virus
      • Fifth Disease (Slapped Cheek Disease)
      • ANY type of rash or blisters
      • Mumps
      • Impetigo
      • Pink Eye
      • Contagious Styes
      • Head Lice
      • MRSA
      • Scabies

Steps to return to daycare after an illness:

    • If contagious illness: they must be cleared by a doctor stating that they are no longer contagious and are clear to be around other children (usually 24 hours after antibiotic treatment has begun and/or 24 hours after symptoms have subsided depending on the illness). Each individual case is different and require more or less time out.
    • Fever only: after a minimum of 24 hours fever free without the aid of fever reducing medicine. Giving your child Tylenol to reduce the fever before arriving at daycare in the morning is unacceptable because the fever will reappear once again and the child will still have to be sent home.
    • When I, the Daycare Provider, give the final ok, for the child to return to the daycare, per my own daycare policies.

    Additional notes:

    • If your child is ill over a weekend or when away from the daycare, please make me aware in case the other children have possibly been exposed to a contagious illness as well.
    • If a child continually comes to the daycare sick and the parents do not abide by the daycare sick policies, then childcare will be terminated by the daycare provider.
    • If you aren’t sure if your child needs to stay home please message or call me and we can decide together.
